The messaging system enables you to contact other users within the protected environment of Aupair World. Your contact information is never passed on to third persons. Naturally, you are free to give your telephone number, Skype or e-mail address to the au pair/host family. However, you decide when and with whom you exchange these data.

Standard messages

Thanks to our standard messages au pairs and host families can show their mutual interest in each other – no matter if one of them is a Premium Member or not.

Personal Messages

As Premium Members, host families can both write their personal messages to au pairs and read the personal messages of the au pairs. The same goes for conversations in which the Premium Member is not the host family but the au pair.

Au pairs can always write their personal messages, no matter if they are Premium Members or not. These messages, though, can only be read by the host family if either the au pair or the family itself is a Premium Member.

Usually, the host family becomes a Premium Member and makes the exchange of personal messages possible (Premium Conversation).

All messages that are exchanged between an au pair and a host family form a conversation. Conversations are shown in the folders "Received", "Sent" or "Archive".

Premium Conversation

As soon as a Premium Member sends a message in a conversation, this becomes a Premium Conversation for both convesational partners. In other words, au pairs and host families can start exchanging personal messages with each other.

Premium Conversations can be carried on by both conversational partners even after the Premium Membership has expired.

Once you have received a reply or new application, you can find the related conversation in the "Received" folder.

You can do the following when you receive a message:

1. send a positive reply (continue the conversation) or
2. send a negative reply (close the conversation).

Once you have sent a message, you can find the related conversation in the "Sent" folder.

From there, as a Premium Member, you can also send other messages to those you had already contacted. If you are not a Premium Member, take advantage of the Premium Membership of your conversational partner. In other words, if you are holding a conversation with a Premium Member, you can still send as many messages as you want to that particular person.

Please note that you are only allowed to send a limited number of applications. An application is the first message sent to an au pair or a host family.

Once you have sent a message to an au pair or a host family, you can easily see whether your message has been read. This is indicated by an opened envelope in the "Sent" folder. If your messages in the "Sent" folder are in bold and include a closed envelope, they have not been read yet.

Once you have read or sent a negative reply, the conversation is closed. You cannot continue or restart a closed conversation later.

Therefore, closed conversations are automatically shifted into the archive after reading or sending.
